OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced the upcoming change on X.com, stating that the new capabilities are part of the company's principle to "treat adult users like adults." The feature is expected to roll out in December.
“In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our ‘treat adult users like adults’ principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults,” Altman posted.
Crucially, Altman clarified that users will need to manually enable this feature. By default, ChatGPT's behavior will remain unchanged. To access erotic content generation, users will have to navigate to their account settings and opt-in, ensuring that the experience is entirely user-controlled.
A New Personality for ChatGPT
The announcement was part of a broader update regarding a new version of ChatGPT. This new iteration aims to give users more control over the AI's personality, allowing it to behave in a more human-like manner, use emojis, or act as a friendly companion.
