Why Google Gemini Dominates AI Image And Video Generation
Elyse Betters Picaro / ZDNET
In the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, a new survey highlights a clear leader in the creative space. It turns out that Google's Gemini is the preferred tool for many users when it comes to generating AI images, dominating for both personal and enterprise applications. Similarly, Google's Veo is the top choice for AI video creation.
Survey Reveals Gemini as the Top Choice
A recent survey by Artificial Analysis, which polled 300 developers and creators, provides a clear picture of the current state of generative AI. The findings show that a staggering 74% of respondents use Google Gemini for image creation. This places it well ahead of competitors like OpenAI's GPT Image, used by 64% of those surveyed, and Black Forest Labs' Flux at 37%.
Gemini's leadership extends across different user groups. It is the go-to tool for 77% of personal users and 68% of enterprise users for AI image generation. When it comes to video, Google's dominance continues, with its Veo model being the top choice for both personal (67%) and enterprise (72%) use.
Personal vs Enterprise How AI Tools Are Used
The survey also sheds light on the distinct ways individuals and organizations leverage these powerful tools. Overall, generating images with AI is more popular than creating videos, and personal use cases are more common than business applications.
For personal projects, the primary use for AI-generated images is for "small, one-off creations," with 81% of users citing this reason. Similarly, 77% use AI videos for the same purpose. However, AI video generators are more frequently used for complex creative tasks like storyboarding, special effects, and creating short promotional clips (63%) compared to AI image tools (52%).
In the business world, 44% of surveyed organizations have integrated AI image generation into their production workflows, while 39% have done the same with AI video generators. Interestingly, businesses show a stronger preference for AI video generators when it comes to advertising, with 55% using them for this purpose, compared to only 42% who use AI image generators for ads.
Key Factors for Enterprise Adoption
When organizations decide which AI model to adopt, several key factors influence their choice. According to the survey, the most significant drivers for selecting an AI image generator are the ability to produce higher-quality outputs (82%), accurate adherence to prompts (73%), and a lower total cost of ownership (55%). These criteria highlight the practical demands of a professional environment, where quality, reliability, and budget are paramount.
The Growing Role of AI in Work and Play
As AI becomes more integrated into our daily routines, its applications continue to expand. For personal use, people are turning to AI generators to create custom artwork, make promotional videos, or get help with tasks like homework, recipe planning, and even drafting text messages.
In the workplace, the impact is even more profound. Organizations are increasingly relying on AI to boost productivity by deploying AI agents that can automate tasks like scheduling meetings, assisting developer workflows, and generating real-time meeting notes. The findings from this survey confirm that as this trend continues, tools from major players like Google are setting the standard for both creative and professional use.
