Viral Fames Dark Side Actress Speaks On AI Abuse
![]()
Jawan actress Girija Oak Godbole, who captured the internet's attention as 'The Woman in the Blue Saree,' is now speaking out about the alarming downside of her sudden viral fame. In a candid Instagram video, the actor addressed the spread of AI-generated vulgar images of her, describing the experience as being “sexualised, objectified and beyond comfort.”
The Double-Edged Sword of Viral Fame
Girija began her message by acknowledging the overwhelming nature of her recent popularity. “What has been happening on social media for the past three days has been absolute madness. It’s crazy and great in equal parts,” she shared, reflecting on the sudden surge of attention. She expressed deep gratitude to her fans, friends, and colleagues for the outpouring of support. “There is so much love coming my way... messages, phone calls, memes—some of them are ridiculously funny and very creative,” she added.
A Disturbing Trend: The Rise of AI-Morphed Images
However, the positivity was soon overshadowed by a more sinister trend. Girija revealed that not all the content being created was harmless fun. “Some of them are also AI-morphed images of me, which are not in great taste. They are sexualised and objectified beyond comfort, and this bothers me,” she stated. While understanding that viral moments often lead to creative and sometimes unusual content, she questioned the absence of ethical boundaries. “What is bothering me is that this game has no rules. And there’s absolutely nothing that is not allowed in this game.”
A Mother's Concern for the Digital Future
The actress voiced her most profound concern as a mother, thinking about the long-term consequences of these fake images. “I have a twelve-year-old son... eventually he will have access to these images. They’ll remain on the internet forever. These obscene images of his mother—he’s going to see them one day, and it worries me,” she explained. She pointed out that even though people know the images are fake, the “cheap thrill” they provide points to a frightening aspect of our digital reality. “This is scary,” she concluded.
A Call to Action for Online Responsibility
Refusing to remain silent, Girija directly addressed both the creators and consumers of such harmful content. “If you use AI to morph images of women or men into something inappropriate, think about it once. And if you simply enjoy viewing such images—you’re also part of the problem,” she urged, placing responsibility on the entire ecosystem that allows this content to proliferate.
Finding the Silver Lining
Despite the distressing experience, Girija chose to end her message on a hopeful note. She remains grateful for the renewed focus on her career. “If this translates into more people watching my films, my series or my plays, then what else could I ask for?” she said optimistically.
The actress, Girija Oak Godbole, has a notable career in Marathi theatre and cinema, along with roles in popular Hindi projects like Taare Zameen Par, Ladies Special, and the recent blockbuster Jawan.
