AI Tackles Boomer Millennial Clash With Honesty
Millennial Frustration Sparks AI Inquiry
Two millennial mothers, weary of the persistent negative stereotypes aimed at their generation, took a novel approach to address their concerns. They decided to ask the AI chatbot ChatGPT for its analysis on the matter, and the AIs answers proved to be quite revealing.
Miranda Hann and Lexi Silva, entrepreneurs and part of the millennial generation born between 1981 and 1996, matured during a period marked by economic and political instability. This challenging environment has had a significant impact on them and their peers.
Hann, a 33 year old from Florida, expressed her belief that systemic shortcomings have made it difficult for millennials to afford basic necessities. She conveyed to Newsweek that her generation felt they were "promised the world and left wanting."
The two mothers grew increasingly tired of the criticism directed at millennials by older generations. After enduring stereotypes labeling millennials as lazy, entitled, and financially irresponsible, Hann and Silva decided they had reached their limit.
Their solution was to consult ChatGPT, an AI chatbot from OpenAI, to see if it agreed with the baby boomer generations (born 1946-1964) assessment that millennials are lazy.

ChatGPTs Unfiltered Take on Generational Divide
"We decided to ask ChatGPT about millennials and if we were set up for failure because we know so many people who are equally frustrated and sick of the system," Hann explained.
She added that "ChatGPT analyzed and confirmed that millennials have little to no support, are making less money but spending more to afford the same standard of living boomers afforded with half the salary and confirmed that boomers are completely out of touch with reality."
ChatGPT offered several explanations for these disparities. According to the AI, boomers were "born into the golden cheat code," benefiting from an era where a single income could secure a house and the job market was more stable. The AI also suggested that boomers "broke the ladder behind them" through actions like deregulating the housing market and increasing student debt burdens, leading them to become "financially fat and morally fragile."
Newsweek has reached out to OpenAI for a comment on this matter.
Crafting ChatGPTs Sassy Persona
Hann and Silva, both aged 33, found themselves in complete agreement with the AI chatbots assessment.
When they first prompted ChatGPT, they specifically requested unvarnished honesty, stating they were "tired of their gaslighting."
And ChatGPT certainly delivered on that request, offering a direct and unfiltered perspective.
The AIs responses were notably sassy and human-like. Silva clarified that this was intentional, as they had dedicated over a year to training ChatGPT to adopt their specific "tone and brand voice."
Silva mentioned to Newsweek, "We weren't shocked at Chats sass because we trained her that way. Our favorite line she came up with was, 'you built the bridge then made us pay the toll, Frank.'"
Viral Verdict AI Resonates with Millennials
The duo shared ChatGPTs response in a video on their social media account (@_simplifiedsocial). The clip quickly went viral, attracting over 3.7 million views and more than 181,000 likes.
While some boomers were understandably displeased with their portrayal, Silva reported that many millennials found the video to be validating. Hann and Silva connected with numerous individuals who share the sentiment that the current system is setting them up for failure, prompting them to voice these concerns.
The Unattainable American Dream
"The American dream of a white picket fence, car, affordable living, and two kids isn't realistic or attainable anymore," Silva stated. "Families used to survive on one salary and live comfortable middle class lives. But now, parents work full time or have multiple jobs, kids go to daycares which cost a kidney, mortgages are an entire paycheck. We're all just trying to survive—there's no thriving anymore."
Online Reactions and Validation
Since its viral spread on Instagram, the video has garnered over 3,200 comments.
One user commented, "ChatGPT will always be that girl."
Another viewer wrote, "Dang, ChatGPT left no crumbs mic drop."
Another person added, "Well said. Sidenote ChatGPT definitely identifies as a millennial."
