ChatGPT

OpenAI appears to be developing a significant new capability for ChatGPT a Record feature designed to capture transcribe and summarize live meetings. This move could position ChatGPT as a direct competitor to existing solutions like Microsoft Teams Copilot integration.

Leaked Feature Points to Enhanced Meeting Support

While ChatGPT currently supports various third party services it lacks the built in functionality to summarize live meetings or generate AI powered transcripts in real time. However recent discoveries suggest this is about to change.

Code snippets within the ChatGPT mobile app as detailed in a post by X user M1Astra clearly indicate a new Record feature. This functionality is described as supporting pausing and resuming recordings as well as converting spoken audio into text.

User Experience and Functionality Insights

The leaked information suggests that users will be able to activate the recording feature and then drag to talk. Once a meeting is recorded ChatGPT will reportedly offer detailed reports and quick summaries of the discussion.

To enable these features ChatGPT will request access to the device microphone and system audio. Importantly the platform will also remind users to obtain consent from all participants before initiating a recording underscoring a commitment to privacy.

A Challenge to Existing AI Meeting Tools

This development strongly suggests that OpenAI is preparing to compete directly with tools like Microsoft Teams Copilot which already offers AI powered meeting summaries and transcriptions.

However the implementation might differ. It is speculated that the ChatGPT Record feature will likely function as an overlay within the ChatGPT application itself recording screen activity or microphone input. This approach would differ from direct integrations into platforms like Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
