Anthropic is making significant strides. The developers behind the Claude AI chatbot have rolled out several major updates recently, including the fourth version of their software. They are continuing this momentum by adding a voice mode and web search features.
Voice mode, a feature becoming common across leading AI systems, is also being adopted by Claude. Competitors like ChatGPT and Gemini have been promoting this feature, especially with Gemini's integration on Android devices. This technology enables a more natural, conversational interaction with the chatbot, allowing users to speak their prompts instead of typing.

Claude's voice mode will enter beta testing for all mobile users in the coming weeks. It will utilize Claude Sonnet 4 and initially be available only in English. Anthropic confirms it will be accessible across all plans and apps on both Android and iOS.
Users will have five distinct voice options: Buttery, Airy, Mellow, Glassy, and Rounded.
During voice chats, users can switch between voice and text input. Similar to its competitors, Claude will be able to discuss documents, images, and complex information verbally. This includes uploading files, taking photos, or even sharing live video of surroundings.
While available on all plans, Pro plan subscribers and higher tiers will benefit from "knowledge integration." This feature allows Claude to access emails, calendars, documents, and web searches, providing the voice assistant with richer context.

Alongside voice mode, Anthropic announced that web search is now available on all Claude plans. Previously a premium feature, this capability allows Claude to search the internet for answers, accessing breaking news, current market trends, and other real time data. This feature mirrors functionalities already present in competitors like Google Gemini and ChatGPT.
The Power of Claude 4

Just last week, Anthropic unveiled Claude 4, its latest AI iteration. This update brought Claude back to the forefront, positioning it competitively against models like Gemini 2.5 Pro. Claude 4 enhances abilities in code writing and editing, and allows for more thorough prompt analysis, reflecting a broader trend towards deep research capabilities in AI.
The release featured two new models: Claude 4 Opus and Claude 4 Sonnet. In comparative testing against Gemini 2.5 Pro, Claude emerged victorious, though the competition was tight.
However, while Claude currently seems to hold an edge, the AI landscape is evolving rapidly, and the top position could shift quickly.
