RCMP Addresses Misleading AI Suspect Image

The Saskatchewan RCMP is currently addressing a significant issue involving a misleading AI-generated image that has been circulating on social media. This image was created based on a police sketch related to an ongoing sexual offence investigation. The incident under investigation occurred at a business south of Saskatoon on May 9, 2025. Officials have clearly stated that the AI-generated image does not accurately reflect witness descriptions and are strongly urging the public to stop sharing it to avoid spreading misinformation.

AI Image Versus Official Police Sketch

It is important to distinguish between the AI-generated image and the official police sketch. The original sketch was meticulously produced by an RCMP Forensic Artist and was officially released on May 16. This sketch is considered the accurate and reliable depiction of the suspect as it is based directly on information provided by witnesses. The AI-generated version, while derived from this sketch, has altered the appearance in a way that no longer aligns with the original witness statements.

Public Urged to Use Official Sketch and Report Information

Authorities are making a public appeal for assistance based on the original police sketch. If you recognize the individual in the official RCMP sketch or have any information that could be relevant to the investigation, you are encouraged to contact the RCMP. You can reach them by calling 310-RCMP. Alternatively, if you wish to provide information anonymously, you can submit tips through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers. Your cooperation is crucial.

Investigation Continues

The General Investigation Section of the RCMP is continuing its diligent work on this case. They are actively pursuing leads and appreciate the public's support in adhering to official information sources.
