AI Music Milestone A Million Colors Charts On TikTok
The Breakthrough: "A Million Colors" Charts
“A Million Colors” by Vinih Pray has made history as the first-known AI-generated song to appear on the TikTok charts. The track, which has a doo-wop inspiration, currently holds the No. 44 spot on the TikTok Viral 50. Its creation is attributed to the popular AI music platform Suno, a fact confirmed by the company.

AI in Music: A New Precedent
While "A Million Colors" signifies the first fully AI-generated song on the TikTok charts, it's not the first chart appearance involving AI elements. In the summer of 2024, a human-made song, “U My Everything” by Sexyy Redd featuring Drake, peaked at No. 2 on the TikTok Top 50. This track notably sampled another AI-generated song, “BBL Drizzy”. However, reports indicate that the most commonly used sound clip from “U My Everything” in TikTok videos did not feature the AI-generated sample.
Viral Sensation: The Rise of "A Million Colors"
The impact of "A Million Colors" is substantial, with over 371,700 creates on TikTok, 819,745 streams on Spotify, and 161,000 views on YouTube. The song’s realistic quality has led to many unsuspecting users enjoying it without realizing its AI origin. Adding to its viral spread, Kylie Jenner, one of TikTok's most popular celebrities, recently featured the song in a makeup tutorial, which garnered 1.5 million likes.
The AI Detection: Users Catch On
Despite its convincing nature, some TikTok users have started to recognize the AI origins of "A Million Colors." The sound page for "A Million Colors" now features numerous videos from users pointing out its artificial intelligence roots. This trend likely gained traction from a popular video by user @americangorls, posted on May 10, who expressed unease: “this song having hundreds of thousands of uses and I haven’t seen anyone talking ab the fact that this is 100% ai is freaking me out a little. am i crazy[?]”
The Enigmatic Artist: Who is Vinih Pray?
According to his Spotify biography, Vinih Pray, the artist behind "A Million Colors," hails from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is described as “making waves in the Brazilian music scene.” The bio also mentions collaborations with “several renowned artists,” though these collaborators are not named. Pray maintains a rapid release schedule; since beginning to post on the platform in April 2024, over 110 songs have been released under this name across Spotify and other services. These tracks span various languages, including Korean, English, Portuguese, and Mandarin, and often feature different vocal styles. It is unclear if Pray’s own voice is used in any of these recordings or how many are AI-generated versus human-made.
Requests for comment sent to Pray and TikTok by Billboard have not yet received a response.
The Broader AI Music Scene
With "A Million Colors," Vinih Pray joins a growing community of AI music content creators online. King Willonius, known for using Udio to create “BBL Drizzy,” shares numerous AI-generated parody songs with his 56,000 Instagram followers. Another prominent figure, AI For the Culture, has built a YouTube following of 150,000 subscribers by producing AI-generated period music, often pairing tracks with AI-generated images and fictional artist bios to add a human touch. Notably, one of AI For the Culture's songs, “Turn On The Lights”—an AI reimagining of Future’s track as 1970s soul—was sampled by JPEGMAFIA in “either on or off the drugs” last year.
