Ex Soldier Faces Federal Charges Over AI Child Abuse Content
Former Soldier Faces Grave Accusations
A man from Columbus Ohio is facing serious accusations involving the possession of child sexual abuse material CSAM and the use of artificial intelligence to alter images of his minor family members. Austin Pittman aged 25 was initially taken into custody on April 29 following an investigation stemming from multiple concerning reports.

Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Material
The inquiry began after the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children ICAC task force received CyberTipline Reports. These crucial alerts originated from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children NCMEC and the messaging application Kik both flagging suspected child sexual abuse material linked to an account.
Investigators successfully tracked the IP addresses associated with the Kik account to a residence on East Beck Street. When surveillance indicated the occupants had relocated law enforcement followed the trail to Goldfield Drive where a search warrant was subsequently executed.
Suspect Admits to Viewing and Account Creation
Pittman was arrested at the Goldfield Drive home. During questioning he reportedly admitted to creating the Kik account in question. He also allegedly stated that he viewed child pornography for the “shock factor.”
Further investigation revealed that other CyberTipline Reports linked to the same Kik account had previously led to a Fort Bragg inquiry into Pittman. This resulted in his “Other than Honorable Discharge” from the U.S. Army indicating prior concerns about his conduct.
AI Used to Manipulate Images of Minors
A forensic examination of an iPhone seized during the search yielded approximately 200 images classified as child pornography. Disturbingly some of these images had been digitally created or altered using artificial intelligence.
A special agent with Homeland Security Investigations detailed in charging documents that a family photograph originally depicting four clothed females all family members of Pittman was manipulated. The AI altered image depicted these individuals including two minors as nude. Investigators also discovered other altered photos of a minor family member which explicitly bore the notation “Powered by AI generated” on the image itself highlighting the technology used in their creation.
Federal Charges Escalate Legal Battle
Pittman is currently detained in the Franklin County jail. He was indicted last month on seven counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor at the county level. The case has now escalated with federal charges being filed.
He is now federally charged with multiple serious offenses including receipt transportation distribution or possession of child pornography possession of AI generated child pornography and production of morphed image or AI generated child pornography. These charges underscore the severity of the alleged crimes and the disturbing intersection of child exploitation with emerging AI technologies.
