Motorola Introduces the 2025 Edge with Advanced AI and Camera Tech

Motorola has officially launched its 2025 Edge smartphone this Thursday, a device that shares several impressive software capabilities with the new Razr phones. Priced at $550, this non-foldable handset distinguishes itself with integrated Moto AI, a versatile triple 50-megapixel camera system, and advanced image processing thanks to Motorola's Photo Enhancement Engine. It's important to note this is distinct from the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge slim model.

Stunning Display and Sleek Design

The 2025 Edge features a vibrant 6.7-inch super HD POLED display. Motorola highlights its "improved contrast" and a "13% more resolution than the previous generation." Users will also appreciate the smooth 120Hz refresh rate and the phone's signature curved display edges.

Powerful Quad-Camera System

Photography enthusiasts will be pleased with the Edge's camera setup. It includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens offering 3x optical magnification and up to 30x digital zoom. For selfie lovers, there's a high-resolution 50-megapixel front-facing camera, promising to elevate your self-portraits.

Smart AI Integration for Enhanced Experience

Artificial intelligence plays a significant role in the new Edge. Moto's Photo Enhancement Engine works to optimize your photos by reducing noise, amplifying details, and improving dynamic range. Furthermore, Edge users gain access to powerful AI tools in Google Photos, including Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, and Photo Unblur.

Echoing the features of the 2025 Razr lineup, the Edge incorporates a dedicated AI key. This button activates Moto AI features like "Pay Attention," which can record and summarize conversations, and "Next Move," which analyzes on-screen content to suggest relevant follow-up actions. Popular Google AI functionalities such as Gemini Live and Circle to Search are also integrated.

Built for Durability

Motorola has engineered the Edge to withstand daily challenges. It boasts IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, allowing submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes and protection against high-temperature water jets. The device is also MIL-STD-810H certified, indicating it has passed military-grade durability tests. Protecting the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which Motorola claims offers double the resistance to drops and scratches compared to previous versions.

Performance, Extended Battery Life, and Latest Software

Under the hood, the 2025 Edge is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, complemented by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. A significant highlight is its 5,200-mAh battery, which Motorola claims can last up to two days on a single charge—a claim that will be interesting to test. The phone supports rapid 68-watt TurboPower charging and convenient 15-watt wireless charging. Out of the box, the Edge runs on the latest Android 15.

For those preferring carrier options, Motorola has announced that the phone will be offered through T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Total Wireless, Visible, Spectrum, and Xfinity Mobile in the upcoming months.
