At that time, OpenAI indicated that a professional "pro" version of the o3 model was in development, and today, that advanced model has been made available.

Both the o3 and o4-mini models are intended to utilize and combine all the tools available under ChatGPT's comprehensive suite. When OpenAI adds the "pro" designation to a model, it signifies a version specifically engineered to spend more time processing queries. This dedication results in better and more accurate responses. "We recommend using it for challenging questions where reliability matters more than speed, and waiting a few minutes is worth the tradeoff," the company stated in the release notes for the o3-pro. In the shared testing assessments, the o3-pro model demonstrated superior benchmarks compared to both the standard o3 and the o1-pro options.

Key Features and Limitations of o3 pro

Despite its advanced capabilities, the o3-pro model has some restrictions regarding its integration with other ChatGPT services. Notably, functionalities for image generation and Canvas are not supported by this particular model. Users who require these features will need to turn to different models within the ChatGPT ecosystem to access them.

Availability of the New o3 pro Model

The o3-pro model is accessible starting today for users who are subscribed to ChatGPT Pro and Team plans. For customers utilizing Enterprise and Edu plans, access to this new, powerful option will be rolled out next week.
