An AI-generated image appearing to show actors Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin with their son recently caused a stir online, leading to official statements from both of their agencies to clear up the confusion.

The Viral AI Photo That Fooled Fans

The image, which spread rapidly across social media platforms, seemed to capture a warm family moment between the celebrity couple and a young child. Given the immense global popularity of Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin, particularly after their leading roles in the beloved drama 'Crash Landing on You,' the photo quickly gained significant attention.

However, it was soon confirmed that the image was not authentic but was instead created using artificial intelligence. The fake portrait was traced back to a social media user in India who had posted several AI-generated pictures of the couple. While many were obviously fake, one image was realistic enough to mislead some international fans into believing it was a genuine family photo.

A closer look revealed clear inconsistencies. In the image, Hyun Bin's arm seemed to be missing, and the hand holding Son Ye Jin's was distorted and unnatural. Furthermore, the child in the photo did not match the age of their actual son, who was born in 2022 and is now almost three. These details quickly led to public doubt and debunking of the image.

Agencies Step In to Debunk the Image

In light of the situation, representatives for both stars have spoken out. On July 5, a representative from Hyun Bin’s agency confirmed to the media outlet OSEN that the viral photo was indeed an AI-generated fake. They stated that while a formal announcement wasn't necessary, the agency is pursuing legal procedures to have the manipulated images removed from online platforms to avoid further public confusion.

A representative from Son Ye Jin’s agency echoed this, adding a critical reminder that the actress has never shared any photos of her child with the public. The spokesperson explained that fabricated images have been a recurring issue since the couple’s marriage, often created by fans or other social media users. They noted the challenges in taking direct action against international accounts but assured that the agency is working to clarify that such images are fake through its official channels.

A Look at the Couple's Stance on Privacy

Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin's romance began after they starred together in the 2020 hit drama 'Crash Landing on You.' Their real-life relationship was celebrated by fans across the globe, with the series achieving massive success, including a 72-week run in Netflix Japan’s Top 10.

The couple tied the knot in 2022 and welcomed their first child later that year. Despite their high-profile careers, both actors have made a conscious choice to keep their son out of the spotlight. Son Ye Jin is active on social media and even runs a secondary account to connect with fans, but she has never revealed her child’s face. Similarly, Hyun Bin has kept his family life private, only sharing in a television appearance that he thinks his son resembles Son Ye Jin.

The Growing Challenge of AI and Celebrity Privacy

This incident serves as a powerful example of the growing challenges public figures face in protecting their privacy. As AI technology becomes more sophisticated, it is increasingly difficult to distinguish between real and fabricated content, posing new threats to personal privacy and the spread of misinformation.
