In response to a new wave of digital threats, Tracer AI has launched Tracer Protect for ChatGPT. This innovative solution is engineered to shield brands from reputational damage propagated at machine scale by malicious actors using AI chatbots.

The growing prevalence of generative AI (genAI) has created an urgent and evolving security threat for enterprises. Tracer Protect for ChatGPT addresses this by actively monitoring ChatGPT for any mentions of a customer's brands, products, services, or executives. The system proactively identifies and neutralizes a range of harmful activities, including fraud, social engineering, executive impersonation, fraudulent mobile applications, counterfeit products, and sophisticated narrative attacks designed to mislead consumers.

The solution is powered by Tracer’s Flora agentic AI platform, which is designed to learn from every action taken against a threat, continuously improving and adapting its detection capabilities.

"OpenAI is already taking important steps to battle nefarious activity in ChatGPT," stated Rick Farnell, CEO of Tracer. "With Tracer Protect for ChatGPT, Tracer will now be a key pillar of a robust solution to this problem, proactively partnering with brands to remediate infringement activity on OpenAI and any links to websites, mobile apps and marketplaces engineered to prey on consumers."

Generative AI The New Frontier for Brand Abusers

The mainstream adoption and public trust in generative AI outputs have opened new, highly effective channels for bad actors. AI chatbots now often include product recommendations in their responses, surfacing products when a user’s query suggests shopping intent. This capability, combined with the ability to provide web links, creates a novel opportunity for malicious actors to promote unauthorized content and execute targeted phishing schemes.

"The emergence of AI chatbots as a new vector for brand manipulation is a pressing concern for enterprise organizations," said Sawyer Ramsey, Strategic Account Executive at Snowflake. He noted that Tracer's platform, using the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, achieves incredible response times to deliver crucial insights, representing the forward-thinking protection needed in today's digital environment.

Beyond traditional infringement, bad actors are now employing sophisticated narrative poisoning attacks. These attacks involve systematically seeding false information and negative associations to influence public opinion and alter how AI systems respond to brand-related queries. This surge in AI-driven malicious activity challenges traditional brand protection methods, as bad actors use Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) to increase their visibility within AI chatbots while hiding from conventional search engines.

"The urgency to get ahead of this threat cannot be overstated," Farnell continued. "Organizations must adopt equally advanced countermeasures to protect their digital presence. This escalating technological arms race... necessitates a proactive and nuanced approach to digital security, which is why we built Tracer Protect for ChatGPT."

Addressing Rising Threats from AI Generated Outputs

At the heart of the solution is Flora, a special-purpose agentic AI system designed for the complexities of digital brand protection. Flora's capabilities automate and accelerate the monitoring and enforcement process, establishing an "always-on" defense that can reduce the time-to-live (TTL) for brand misuse instances by up to 80%.

Tracer Protect for ChatGPT leverages Flora to actively monitor and analyze ChatGPT outputs, neutralizing a wide array of brand infringements. It extends Tracer's comprehensive brand protection to chatbots, enabling businesses to proactively mitigate risks at the source, including those found in search and product recommendation features.

The system also incorporates Tracer’s proprietary Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) AI approach, blending the speed of AI with the nuanced expertise of human analysts. This ensures that enforcement actions are not only fast but also accurate and legally defensible.

This technology is built and enhanced on The Universal AI Platform from Dataiku. Sophie Dionnet, SVP of Product and Business Solutions at Dataiku, explained, "Tracer AI is leading from the front... By combining its Flora agent with the right analytics and its Marlin vision model through The Universal AI Platform, Tracer has shown how to translate frontier AI into real-world outcomes."

Tracer Protect for ChatGPT is the first of several planned solutions aimed at neutralizing genAI threats. The company intends to release similar brand protection products for Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini later this year.
