The online gaming world is buzzing with excitement as Roblox has just pulled back the curtain on a massive wave of new features at its annual Developers Conference. From a TikTok-style video feed to powerful AI creation tools and a pay raise for developers, the platform is making significant strides to empower its community. Let's dive into the biggest announcements.

Introducing Roblox Moments A New Way to Share Gameplay

Get ready for a whole new way to experience Roblox. The platform is launching "Roblox Moments," a short-form video feed that lets you share your best gameplay clips. Currently in beta for users 13 and older, this feature allows you to capture, edit, and share up to 30-second clips of your in-game action.

You can trim your video, add music, and write a description before sharing it with the community. Other users can then scroll through a feed of these moments, react with emojis, and—in a game-changing move—jump directly into the experience featured in the video.

Later this year, Roblox will also give creators API access to build their own discovery systems, like leaderboards for the coolest moments in a racing game. To ensure safety, all content will be moderated before posting.

A Bigger Payday for Roblox Creators

In a major boost for the developer community, Roblox is increasing its Developer Exchange (DevEx) rate. Creators will now earn 8.5% more when cashing out their Robux. The new rate means 100,000 earned Robux is now worth $380, up from the previous $350. This change reinforces Roblox's commitment to building a thriving economy where creators can build successful careers.

Supercharging Creation with Powerful AI Tools

Roblox is doubling down on AI to make game development more accessible and powerful. The platform is introducing groundbreaking tools that go beyond creating static 3D models. Soon, creators will be able to generate fully functional, interactive objects from a simple text prompt. For example, typing "a sleek, futuristic red sports car" will create a drivable vehicle that can be further customized.

But the AI innovation doesn't stop there. Here are some other powerful additions:

  • Real-Time Voice Translation: Coming next year, this feature will instantly translate voice chat between players speaking English, Spanish, French, and German, breaking down language barriers.
  • Text-to-Speech API: This allows for instant narration and character dialogue, bringing NPCs to life with customizable voice presets.
  • Speech-to-Text API: This enables voice commands in-game, allowing players to perform actions like firing a cannon just by saying "Fire!"

Enhancing Performance and Immersion Across the Platform

Finally, Roblox announced several key updates aimed at improving gameplay and visual fidelity. A new "Server Authority" mode will help reduce in-game cheating and create more realistic physics interactions. Avatars are also getting an upgrade with more lifelike motions for running, climbing, and even grasping objects with their fingers.

These updates, along with platform-wide optimizations, promise to deliver a higher-fidelity experience on all devices without creators needing to do any extra work. This all comes on the heels of Roblox's recent efforts to enhance child safety through expanded age-estimation tech and new content ratings.
