Global business news and information behemoth Bloomberg is encouraging its journalists to use generative artificial intelligence platforms such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT for story research and publishing.
A New Directive for the Newsroom
According to people with knowledge of the directive, Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwait encouraged staff earlier this year to use third-party chatbots, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, in their daily work. The sources were not authorized to speak publicly about the internal communication.
A Strategic Shift in AI Integration
The approach marks a significant shift from the news publisher’s earlier use of AI, which was focused on story summaries and other product-led initiatives.
