Effortless Photo Editing with Google Voice Commands
Let's face it, mastering photo editing software can feel like a full-time job. We've all captured a photo that's almost perfect but been stumped by which sliders and settings to adjust. Google Photos is now introducing a revolutionary solution for everyone: "conversational editing."
This innovative AI feature, which was once exclusive to the Pixel 10, is now becoming available on more Android devices. It allows you to bypass complex editing tools and simply tell your phone what you want to change, using either your voice or typed commands.
While it might sound futuristic, the ability to say, "Make this photo look better" and see the AI instantly enhance it is a significant leap forward. It's the simple, intuitive photo editing solution many of us have been waiting for. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.
Who Can Use This New Feature
Google is gradually rolling out conversational editing to eligible Android users. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Be located in the United States.
- Have your Google Account language set to English (United States).
- Have Face Groups enabled in your settings.
- Have location estimates turned on.
Even if you meet all these requirements, the feature may not appear immediately, as Google has stated it is not yet available in all regions.
What Kind of Edits Can You Make
The new "Ask Photos" feature empowers users of all skill levels to achieve their desired look. From subtle tweaks to completely reimagining a scene, you can now simply ask the AI to do the heavy lifting.
You can give Ask Photos a wide range of instructions, including:
- Specific Adjustments: "Increase the saturation by 100%" or "Brighten the sky."
- Creative Transformations: "Make the ground into a calm pond."
- General Enhancements: "Make this photo look better."
Here are a few visual examples of what conversational editing can accomplish:
Prompt to Ask Photos: "Give the cat a top hat"
Prompt to Ask Photos: "Make the ground dark red"
Prompt to Ask Photos: "Turn the ground into a calm pond"
Managing Your AI Settings in Google Photos

- Tap on Gemini Features in Photos.
In this menu, you can prevent Google from accessing your queries by toggling off "Allow us to access your queries."
