Lydia Plath Slams Fake AI Pregnancy Announcements
Reality TV Star Addresses AI Generated Rumors
When Lydia Plath is ready to announce a pregnancy, she wants her fans to hear it directly from her. The Welcome to Plathville star recently expressed her frustration with followers creating and circulating fake, AI-generated images of her with a baby bump. This comes less than a year after she married her husband, Zac Wyse.
“I get tired of people asking when we’re going to have kids,” Lydia, 21, shared during an appearance on the Revive Her podcast, “but what I get most tired of is—goodness, gracious—the people using AI to announce our pregnancy.”
As the daughter of Kim and Barry Plath, Lydia acknowledged that being on television for six years comes with public scrutiny, but this particular trend has been especially bothersome. “That gets on my nerves,” she explained. “People will misunderstand and they’ll spread false narratives, but to use AI to create a pregnancy photo that—I hope I don’t look like that when I’m pregnant.”
The Impact of Digital Deception
The AI-generated hoaxes have also caused confusion in the couple's personal life. Zac noted that the fake announcements have misled some of their acquaintances who aren't as familiar with the technology.
“There are some old people who follow Lydia and they just don’t get it,” he said. “One of her friends actually messaged her and said, ‘Congratulations.’”
This incident prompted Lydia to consider addressing the issue publicly. “And that’s when I was like, ‘do I need to say something about this publicly?’” she interjected.
A Clear Message to Fans
Lydia made a direct plea to her followers to be more discerning about the information they see online. She established a simple rule for anyone wondering about her family plans.
“Guys, if you don’t see it pinned on my social media, I’m not pregnant,” she stated firmly. “Don’t believe the AI—please.”
Navigating Fame and Privacy
Since tying the knot in February, the newlyweds have found that public attention is one of their biggest challenges. “The hardest part of our marriage has been the public,” Lydia emphasized.
Zac added that they rely on their faith to handle the pressure. “We live in a very broken world,” he said. “We are very much in the position of like, ‘God is in control.’ We’re gonna be gracious like He was, we’re going to be loving like He was. We’re not going to judge others for not living the life that we live.”
Fortunately, Lydia noted they can step away from the online noise when needed. “The good part of that is that’s all online,” she concluded, “And we can separate that from our life.”
