White House Declares Peace In Console Wars With AI Art
An unusual piece of AI-generated art featuring President Donald Trump has marked a symbolic end to a long-standing rivalry in the video game community, sparking both celebration and controversy online.
The Catalyst: A Gaming Ceasefire
The truce was initiated after a landmark announcement from Microsoft. On Friday, the company revealed that a remake of the original Halo, titled Combat Evolution, would be released on both Xbox and PlayStation. This is a historic move for the franchise, which has been an Xbox exclusive since its inception and a major driver of the so-called "Console Wars."
In response, gaming retailer GameStop humorously declared the conflict over. "For the past two decades, the global gaming community has been engaged in an ongoing and increasingly petty feud known as The Console Wars... Halo: Campaign Evolved is officially coming to PlayStation in 2026 with cross-platform play," the company stated on X, declaring itself a "demilitarized zone."
The White House Enters The Fray
The White House quickly joined the conversation. The official White House Rapid Response account on X shared GameStop's statement on Saturday, writing, “President Trump presides over the end of the 20-year Console Wars.”
Following this, the main White House account posted an AI-generated image of President Trump depicted as Master Chief, the protagonist of the Halo series, standing before the White House. The post, captioned “Power to the Players,” rapidly gained over 23 million views. GameStop also shared another AI image of Trump shaking hands with Master Chief, which garnered an additional 9.5 million views.
This is part of a broader trend, as Trump has frequently used synthetic media on social platforms since his return to office, including images of him with a lion and a video of him dancing with the Cracker Barrel logo character.

Online Reactions and AI Scrutiny
The response online was sharply divided. While many praised the post for its humor and celebratory tone, others criticized the use of AI-generated content by an official government account. A significant point of contention was a flaw in the image itself: an American flag in the foreground was depicted with only 40 stars instead of the correct 50, drawing accusations of carelessness.
What People Are Saying
GameStop in a post on X: “GameStop, acting under its authority as a Neutral Entity and The World’s Retail Gaming & Trade-in-Destination, hereby declares the official cessation of the console wars.”
X user @Arkadalo: “So technically, for President Trump, that makes nine wars that he has ended.”
X user @greg16676935420: “Not to be that guy but the flag only has 40 stars on it.”
X user @spectre0799: “nothing more patriotic than the official white house account posting ai slop with the U.S. flag missing 10 stars.”
X user @Bubblebathgirl: “President Trump has peace in his veins.”
What's Next for Gamers?
The event that triggered this online phenomenon, Microsoft’s Halo: Campaign Evolved, is scheduled to launch sometime in 2026, marking a new era of cross-platform gaming.
