Kim Kardashian Bar Exam Setback And Her AI Controversy
A Setback on the Path to Esquire
Kim Kardashian's journey to becoming a lawyer has hit another hurdle. The reality star and entrepreneur recently revealed to her followers that she did not pass the California bar exam she took this past July. While she may portray a fierce attorney on television, the coveted 'esquire' title remains just out of reach for now.
Taking to Instagram Stories on November 8, Kardashian was candid about her results but remained optimistic. "Well, I'm not a lawyer yet," she shared. "Six years into this law journey, and I'm still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up - just more studying and even more determination." She emphasized that she sees this as a motivator, adding, "Falling short isn't failure—it's fuel."
The AI Study Buddy Controversy
This news surfaced shortly after Kardashian made a surprising admission about her study methods. In a recent interview, she confessed to using ChatGPT, an AI system, to help her prepare for her legal exams. However, her experience with the AI tool was far from perfect.
"When I need to know the answer to a question, I'll take a picture and snap it and put it in there," she explained, according to reports. Her frustration with the technology was clear. "It has made me fail tests ... all the time," she continued. "And then I'll get mad and I'll yell at it." Kardashian even described how the AI would follow up incorrect answers with encouraging, almost therapeutic messages about believing in herself, much to her annoyance.
Social Media Reacts Mockery and Support
Following the news of her exam results, social media users had plenty to say. Many were quick to connect her use of AI with her failure to pass, leading to a wave of online ridicule.
"You mean the woman who admitted to using ChatGPT for legal advice... didn't pass the bar?? Color me shocked," one person commented on Reddit. However, the reaction wasn't entirely negative. Many others came to her defense, applauding her for her resilience and dedication to pursuing a challenging new career path, with one user expressing support for "anyone who is trying to study and better themselves."
The Long Road to the Bar
Kim Kardashian's pursuit of a law degree has followed an unconventional path. Instead of attending a traditional law school, she began a four-year apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm in 2018. A major milestone in her journey came in 2021 when she passed the challenging first-year law students' examination, often called the "baby bar."
Her family has been a constant source of support. Her mother, Kris Jenner, praised her daughter's work ethic, highlighting that she studied 18 hours a week for six years while simultaneously raising her children and managing her vast business empire. Her sister, Khloé Kardashian, has also called her efforts "really inspiring and motivating."
Life Imitates Art Playing a Lawyer on TV
The timing of this news is particularly interesting, as it coincides with the premiere of her new Hulu scripted series, "All's Fair." The show, which has become a massive hit for the streaming service, features Kim in the lead role as Allura Grant, a powerful and chic divorce lawyer.
Kim explained in an interview that she drew inspiration for the character from her own family's attorney, Laura Wasser. "It was just so important to have someone that I could want to channel and want to feel," she said. "And that was Laura, who's just like a badass woman that takes care of other women." While her on-screen legal prowess is captivating audiences, her real-world legal aspirations remain a work in progress.
