The initiative will grant access to 165,000 teachers across all educational levels, from primary schools to university faculty. This significant undertaking is being financed by Freedom Holding Corp, with OpenAI providing platform access and localized support in both Kazakh and Russian languages.

ChatGPT Edu is a specialized version of the popular AI model, built specifically for educational institutions. It offers several key features unavailable in the free version, such as unlimited file uploads and research capabilities, the ability to create personalized AI assistants, and smooth integration with existing learning management systems.

A Global Trend in AI-Powered Education

This initiative in Kazakhstan reflects a growing global trend. The announcement follows a similar decision by the University of Oxford, which recently began offering ChatGPT Edu access to all its students and staff. Oxford emphasized the platform's enterprise-level security, which ensures all university data remains private. Meanwhile, in a parallel development, competitor Anthropic has partnered with Iceland's Ministry of Education to launch a national pilot program featuring its rival AI, Claude, for teachers across the country.
