Google Gemini User Surge Still Trails ChatGPT Dominance
Google is working hard to catch up in the artificial intelligence race. Recent information shows its Gemini chatbot is growing fast but still has a way to go to match its main rivals.
Gemini User Growth and Competitive Standing
Despite an impressive increase in its user base Google finds itself still striving to close the gap with competitors in the artificial intelligence arena. During a legal discussion related to an antitrust lawsuit against Google internal data came to light. This data indicated that the Gemini chatbot currently has approximately 350 million active users per month as of March.
Gemini Daily Active Users Surge
This figure signifies a substantial jump when compared to October 2024. Back then the number of daily active users was only at 9 million. In the most recent month Google reported 35 million active users per day. However despite this clear progress Gemini has not yet managed to secure a leading position in the field.
Comparing User Numbers ChatGPT and Meta AI
According to the data presented in the legal proceedings OpenAI’s ChatGPT holds a significant advantage. It boasts about 600 million active users in March. Meta AI from Meta also appears to be in a stronger market position. Mark Zuckerberg reported last September that Meta's AI platform was approaching 500 million monthly users.
Googles Uphill Battle in Consumer AI
While there might be slight variations in how different companies measure “active users” the numerical gaps are evident. These differences highlight the challenge that Google is currently facing. Despite concerted marketing efforts and the extensive integration of Gemini into Samsung devices Google Workspace applications and the Chrome browser Google still trails in the intense race for dominance within the consumer AI market.
