Wide receiver George Pickens took to social media to address Pittsburgh Steelers fans following his recent trade to the Dallas Cowboys, specifically calling out what he termed "lies."
"Literally on a plane. No service. Just landed and seen straight lies from Pitt fans," Pickens shared. "Stop with the AI trying to make a story. I'm happy for everything the Steel city did for me."
The trade, finalized on May 7, sent Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick to Dallas. In return, Pittsburgh received a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection.
This move followed a challenging 2024 season for Pickens in Pittsburgh, reportedly involving friction with the organization and head coach Mike Tomlin.
When asked about the trade, Coach Tomlin remained guarded in his comments during his first media session afterward. "You know, I’m not gonna add any color to it other than what (G.M.) Omar (Khan) told you guys yesterday,” Tomlin stated to reporters. “We thought it was best and timely for all parties involved.”
Signs of discontent surfaced before the trade when Pickens unfollowed the Steelers on social media, fueling speculation about his desire to leave. However, despite these indicators, both Pickens and Steelers General Manager Omar Khan have stated that no formal trade request was submitted.
