Pamela Anderson on Challenging Beauty Norms

Pamela Anderson has voiced her desire to challenge prevailing beauty standards, suggesting that the widespread use of AI and photo filters is leading to a homogenized and "boring-looking" aesthetic. The actress, known for her iconic roles and now starring in the forthcoming film "The Naked Gun," emphasized the sense of "freedom" she experiences by appearing on the red carpet without makeup.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Anderson elaborated on her stance: "I think that with AI technology and filters, people are becoming kind of boring-looking. I want to challenge beauty norms. I've always been a rebel." She further questioned the double standard, stating, "It's freedom to know you can walk on a red carpet without a stitch of make-up on. I mean, why can't I? Men do it all the time."

Embracing Authenticity and Creative Expression

Anderson, who is currently experiencing a career resurgence, is set to appear in "The Naked Gun" reboot alongside Liam Neeson, a film she believes will reveal a new dimension of her acting abilities. "It's going to show a different side of me," she shared with the magazine.

Reflecting on her creative process, Anderson explained, "I feel every film I do lately is healing various parts of me. And you need a big, messy life to draw from if you want to make these kinds of things interesting." Her happy place, she says, is in creative endeavors. "I love being in a creative space. That’s my happy place. I love poetry, film and music, and I feel like I’m just trying to live this part of my life as authentically as possible."

This journey of authenticity extends to self-discovery: "I don’t know what my next incarnation will be, but right now, I want to peel it back. Clean up a little bit and just see: who am I?"

A Career Resurgence and Looking Forward

From her early days as a Playboy model to her iconic role as CJ Parker in "Baywatch" in the 1990s, Pamela Anderson's career has been notable. She shares two sons with her ex-husband Tommy Lee, and their relationship was recently dramatized in the 2022 TV series "Pam & Tommy," bringing her private life back into the public eye.

Featured on the cover of Harper's Bazaar's July/August issue, Anderson reflects on this new chapter: "I feel like because I’ve been given this second chance – not everybody gets one – I get to do it my way."
