Unlock Apples Hidden AI Chatbot Now
Many Apple fans felt a sense of disappointment after WWDC 2025 due to the limited unveiling of new Apple Intelligence features. Although Apple is introducing some fresh AI capabilities to its ecosystem, the feature most eagerly awaited—a comprehensive AI chatbot—remains under wraps.
Apple Intelligence Frustration and Siri Delays
Adding to this, Apple executives have explained in several interviews why the upgraded Siri hasn't been released yet. Originally anticipated with iOS 18.4, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg now indicates that Apple is targeting an iOS 26.4 release for Siri's AI enhancements, potentially pushing it to March 2026.
This news might be disheartening for users, particularly as competitors like OpenAI are continuously and rapidly improving their AI models. However, there's a way to experience Apple Intelligence as an actual AI chatbot right now, without relying on ChatGPT, if you're on the latest betas. This functionality is part of the new features in iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, which are currently in their early beta testing phases.
Discovering Apples Hidden AI Chatbot
As highlighted by Filipe Espósito, a reporter for MacWorld, in a post on Threads, it's possible to set up your own Apple Intelligence chatbot if you have the iOS 26 or macOS Tahoe beta installed.
This experimental Apple Intelligence chatbot is powered by Apple’s AI features within the updated Shortcuts app. Espósito explains that you have two choices for the model: the on-device model, which is less powerful, or the Private Cloud Compute option. The latter runs online and performs quite well as a chatbot. You can find more details in Espósito’s Threads post.
How to Create Your Own Apple Intelligence Chatbot
Here’s a simple guide to creating your own:
- In the Shortcuts app on iOS 26 or macOS Tahoe, start by choosing the “Get text from Input” option.
- Next, select “Use Private Cloud Compute model” with Text.
- Finally, instruct Apple Intelligence to “Show Response.”
What to Expect From This Early Chatbot
While Apple’s AI chatbot lacks the strong personality seen in some other AI assistants, it proves quite capable for informational queries. For example, when asked about the best way to travel from Paris to London in the summer or for recommendations on the best portable power bank, it provided decent answers.
However, when questioned about how up-to-date Apple's models were, the system responded with a link to a support page about its Intelligence features. Additionally, this shortcut does not currently allow you to review past queries or see the previous message if you interact with it multiple times.
A Glimpse into Apples AI Future
If you’re keen to see how an Apple Intelligence chatbot operates right now, the new Shortcuts app offers the best preview available. It's an early look, but it gives a sense of Apple's direction.
