Imagine the scene at Friday Night Drifts in Australia: a rotary-swapped Lambo, a monstrous quad-turbo Commodore, and then there's a guy with a Holden ute, a laptop, and a tune file generated by AI. This was the wild setup for local YouTuber Spotto, who decided to enter a flame battle with a car tuned by ChatGPT.

Armed with what he admitted was 'possibly a kill map' from the AI and some creative wiring, Spotto’s Holden ute, nicknamed Lump Stick, went up against some of the most impressive custom builds in the country. The entire project was slapped together in less than 24 hours. The big question is, did it actually work?

The AI Tune That Could Have Ended It All

With the clock ticking, Spotto put his faith in ChatGPT to write a tune file for his SS Commodore Ute, despite openly admitting he was flying blind. He uploaded the AI-generated code using HP Tuners. The code's primary directive was simple: dump a massive amount of excess fuel into the engine at high RPM.

To turn fuel into fire, he wired spark plugs directly into the exhaust, installed one-way air valves to feed in extra oxygen, and fitted a two-step limiter. All of these components were wired to a set of manual switches on the dash. With a flick of a switch and a prayer, the result was a roaring success. Lump Stick transformed into a street-legal flamethrower, lighting up the night sky without blowing itself to pieces.

Crashing the Party with a DIY Attitude

This was far from a professional build. Spotto's Holden is a Frankenstein's monster of various HSV and Maloo parts, held together with ingenuity and help from his friend Alex. They took every shortcut imaginable, from cutting holes where needed to forgoing a working reverse camera, all to meet the insane deadline. Most of the parts were sourced secondhand or from cheap eBay listings.

Despite the shoestring budget, they showed up uninvited to the flame battle, ready to make some noise.

While the rotary Lambo and quad-turbo Commodore boasted professional tunes and huge investments, it was the raw, flaming chaos of Lump Stick that stole the show. In the end, it didn't matter who officially 'won'. Spotto proved you could tune a fire-breathing race car with AI in less than a day and live to tell the tale. In the world of grassroots motorsport, that's a monumental victory.
