Supercharge ChatGPT With Google Workspace Integration
OpenAI has officially announced a powerful new feature for ChatGPT Plus users, integrating the AI with essential Google services. You can now connect your Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts directly to ChatGPT, transforming it into a more capable and personalized assistant.
What Are ChatGPT Connectors?
A connector serves as a secure bridge between ChatGPT and an external application, such as Google's suite of tools. This connection allows ChatGPT to access and utilize data from these apps directly within your chats. It’s important to note that access isn't automatic; you must manually enable each connector, giving you full control over your data.
This feature was initially rolled out to Pro users and has now become available for all Plus subscribers.
How to Connect Your Google Apps to ChatGPT
Enabling this new functionality is a straightforward process within the ChatGPT settings.
Step 1: Navigate to 'Connected apps'
First, click the '+' button in your ChatGPT interface and select the “Connected apps” link.
Step 2: Access the App Directory
In the following menu, click the “Connected Apps” link again to view the available integrations.
Step 3: Select and Authorize Your App
Finally, choose the Google app you wish to connect, such as Gmail, and follow the prompts to authorize access.
How the Integration Works
Once connected, ChatGPT can intelligently pull information from your Google apps whenever it's relevant to your conversation. You no longer need to manually switch between tabs to find information. OpenAI explains how this seamless integration functions:
“Once you enable them, ChatGPT will automatically reference them when relevant, making it faster and easier to bring information from these tools into your conversations without having to manually select them each time.
This capability is part of GPT-5 and will begin rolling out to Pro users globally this week, followed by Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu plans in the coming weeks. To enable, visit Settings → Connectors→ Connect on the application.”
