The Spark: A Controversial Comment
The issue began after Mendoza shared a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter) to provide clarity on a recent candid admission about her past. In a podcast, she had opened up about her previous affection for former love team partner Alden Richards. Her follow-up statement was meant to ensure her words were not taken out of context.
However, one user replied with a dismissive, now-deleted comment: “Thank you, ChatGPT.” The remark implied that Mendoza’s carefully worded message was not from the heart, but generated by an AI chatbot.
Mendoza's Firm Response
The accusation did not sit well with Mendoza. Known for her wit and candidness, she quickly addressed the comment, making it clear that she found it offensive. She specifically pointed to her use of a particular punctuation mark as evidence of her long-standing writing style.

Mendoza's original statement aimed to add context to her remarks on the “Eat Bulaga’s” “Tamang Panahon” podcast. There, she confirmed that she had developed real feelings for Richards during their 'AlDub' love team days but clarified that they never entered into a romantic relationship.
In her follow-up, she stressed, “All is well between the individuals involved, particularly me and Alden. There is no reason to exclude him from the story/our stories... because he was a big part of Kalyeserye.” She added, "There was no intention to provoke criticism or negativity towards him or anyone else.
