Deutsche Telekom Unveils Its New AI Phone For Everyone
Deutsche Telekom is democratizing artificial intelligence with the launch of its new AI-phone, a device designed to make advanced AI accessible and affordable for everyone, not just tech enthusiasts. This initiative aims to seamlessly integrate AI into the daily lives of its customers.
Your Everyday AI Companion
Ever wonder what to cook with leftover ingredients, need a quick bedtime story for your child, or want to know where your favorite band is playing next? The new AI-phone from Deutsche Telekom is here to help. At its core is the Perplexity Assistant, an integrated AI companion ready to assist with a simple press of the magenta button. This makes it a practical helper for all kinds of everyday tasks.
Here are just a few things it can do:
- Personal Secretary: Manage your calendar, draft emails, and summarize long texts.
- Language Genius: Instantly translate menus, documents, or live conversations.
- Exclusive Travel Agency: Plan travel itineraries, act as a city guide, and even make restaurant reservations or order an Uber.
- Nutritionist and Trainer: Provide cooking tips, ingredient lists, and personalized training plans.
- Shopping Expert: Recommend outfits, find the best deals, and suggest perfect gifts.
- Entertainer: Discover concerts, books, and movies tailored to your personal taste.
- Tutor: Help solve math problems and explain complex subjects in simple terms.
The assistant can process requests via voice or text and works with information on your screen or objects seen through your camera. It also integrates with pre-installed apps to perform tasks like making calls, sending messages, or starting navigation.
"Together with trusted partners, we’re bringing the AI-phone to people across Europe. It takes care of everyday tasks and quickly finds reliable information, saving you time and energy. So you can focus on what truly matters – where your ideas, creativity, and personal touch make the real difference” comments Dominique Leroy, Board Member for Europe at Deutsche Telekom.
A European Launch with an Unbeatable Price
In Germany, the AI-phone is available for an impressive 149€, while the AI-tablet is priced at 199€. When purchased with a new contract, the devices cost only one euro each. This price also includes an 18-month subscription to Perplexity Pro and a 3-month Picsart Pro license, adding significant value.
The AI-phone and AI-tablet are launching simultaneously today, August 14th, 2025, not only in Germany but also in Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, and Slovakia. Prices will vary across these markets.
More Than Just AI Powerful Hardware and Sustainable Design
The new devices, officially named T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2, are powerful all-rounders. They feature upgraded chipsets for fast performance and shorter charging times. The AI-phone's camera is enhanced with modern AI tools through a partnership with Picsart, allowing users to create AI avatars and easily edit image backgrounds. The T Tablet 2 is designed for productivity and creativity with its large, eye-friendly TCL NXTPAPER display, perfect for reading, studying, or drawing. A matching T-Pen stylus is also available.
Furthermore, Deutsche Telekom emphasizes sustainability. The T Phone 3 has received the #GreenMagenta label and an excellent 90/100 score in the Eco Rating, while the T Tablet 2 is built with 75% post-consumer recycled plastic.
AI for Everyone Even Without a New Phone
For existing customers who aren't ready for a new device, Deutsche Telekom is rolling out Magenta AI. A new "Magenta AI" button in the MeinMagenta-App will give all customers free access to Perplexity's answer engine, with an AI background editor from Picsart coming soon. More partner services will be added gradually.
"We believe AI offers significant opportunities. To use those, people need to take part and try out AI tools. 'Our' AI-phone and Magenta AI features in the app give our customers compact access to various AI services and allow them to explore this technology first-hand," says Claudia Nemat, Board Member for Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom.
Riding the Wave of AI Adoption in Smartphones
The market is rapidly moving towards AI integration. IDC forecasts that by 2028, generative AI-capable smartphones will make up 70% of the market. This boom is driven by consumer demand for features like real-time translation, camera enhancements, and advanced search functions—all of which are available on Deutsche Telekom’s new AI-phone.
The T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2 are available starting today online, in Telekom shops, and at specialist retailers.
