Samsung is elevating its mobile photography game by giving users another compelling reason to update their devices. The company has just rolled out a significant update to its AI-powered photo editor, the Galaxy Enhance-X app, introducing two powerful new features that are exclusively available on phones running the new One UI 8.

Galaxy Enhance-X has some new features for your Samsung photos.

Get DSLR Style Shots with Focus Shift

According to a report by SamMobile, the latest version of Galaxy Enhance-X (16.0.01.8) introduces a game-changing feature called “Focus Shift.” This tool uses AI to let you adjust a photo's focal point after it's been taken. By simply tapping on any area of the image, you can bring that subject into sharp focus while the AI artfully blurs the background. This mimics the shallow depth-of-field effect, or "bokeh," that is typically associated with expensive DSLR cameras, making it perfect for creating professional-looking portraits and product shots.

Sharpen Your Images with Crop and Upscale

The second major addition is “Crop & Upscale.” This feature uses AI to intelligently increase a photo's resolution by up to 5x. It's an incredibly useful tool for situations where you need to crop in on a subject without losing image quality, or if you want to clean up older, low-resolution photos. While the app already had an upscaling function, this new version provides much more granular control, offering resolution presets from 1x to 5x.

The Catch Exclusive to One UI 8

First launched in 2022, the Galaxy Enhance-X app already offers a suite of handy one-tap editing tools, including options to remove blur, eliminate reflections, reduce moiré patterns, and brighten low-light images. These latest additions are designed to make the app an even more comprehensive editing tool.

However, to access these new AI features, users must have a Samsung device running the recently released One UI 8. This makes the update a strategic move to encourage users to adopt the latest version of Samsung's software.
