Musk Mocks Comey with AI-Generated Image
In a clear display of support for the Trump administration, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has publicly weighed in on the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey. Musk took to his social media platform, X, to post a cryptic, AI-generated image depicting President Donald Trump on a beach arranging pebbles to spell out “FAFO.”
This post is a direct reference to a photo Comey himself shared in May. In his photo, pebbles were arranged to spell “8647,” which many in the Trump administration interpreted as a veiled threat. The term “86” is decades-old slang for getting rid of something, while “47” is a clear reference to Trump as the 47th U.S. President. Musk's “FAFO” image serves as a sharp, symbolic retort.
Furthering his stance, Musk also shared a post from Attorney General Pam Bondi discussing the Comey indictment. Comey is currently facing two charges: making false statements to Congress and obstruction of congressional proceedings. The situation has also seen President Trump criticize other former officials, such as calling for Microsoft to fire former Biden DOJ official Lisa Monaco.
Support Extends to Government Shutdown Stance
Musk's support for the administration wasn't limited to the Comey situation. He also aligned with their position on the potential government shutdown. Responding to a post from Vice President JD Vance that blamed Democrats for the impending shutdown over demands for “healthcare for illegal aliens,” Musk simply replied, “Yup.”
A Renewed Alliance After Public Fallout
These public displays of support follow a recent in-person conversation between Musk and Trump at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, suggesting a mending of fences. The two had a notable falling out in June, but since then, Musk has periodically shown his backing for the administration. Following the passage of a significant spending bill in July, Musk even announced plans to form an “America Party,” although no formal steps have been taken to create it.
