India Dominates Daily ChatGPT Use Globally Survey Reveals
In a world increasingly integrated with Artificial Intelligence, a recent global survey has positioned India as the undisputed leader in daily ChatGPT usage. The findings highlight a significant trend in AI adoption, with Indian users engaging with the popular chatbot far more frequently than the global average.
India Leads the World in Daily AI Chat
The survey revealed a remarkable statistic: 36% of respondents in India use ChatGPT every single day. This figure is more than double the global average, which stands at a modest 17%. The engagement doesn't stop at daily use; an additional 39% of Indians reported using the AI chatbot on a weekly basis. Meanwhile, 10% use it monthly, and only 15% stated they rarely interact with the tool.
How Other Nations Compare
While India holds the top spot, other nations also show strong engagement. Pakistan follows with 28% of its population using ChatGPT daily and 34% weekly. Kenya is close behind with 27% daily users, but with an even higher weekly engagement rate of 42%.
China presents an interesting case, with 24% daily users but the highest weekly usage among the top countries at 49%. Brazil rounds out the top five, with 21% daily and 38% weekly users. Notably, Brazil also had the largest group of infrequent users, at 27%.
A Global Divide in Adoption
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Japan recorded the lowest daily usage rate in the survey. Only 6% of Japanese respondents use ChatGPT daily, with 42% stating they use the AI chatbot rarely. This indicates that the AI tool has yet to achieve the same level of popularity in Japan as it has in other parts of the world.

These insights are from the Global Public Opinion on Artificial Intelligence (GPO-AI) report. The comprehensive survey was conducted in 2023 and included over 1,000 respondents from 21 different countries, offering a broad snapshot of global AI adoption trends.
