Using the established Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) framework, the study aimed to pinpoint exactly what drives the intention to use ChatGPT in an academic setting.

The findings reveal that two factors stand out as the most significant predictors for using ChatGPT: performance expectancy and effort expectancy. In simple terms, users are most likely to adopt the tool if they believe it will help them perform their tasks better and if they find it easy to use.
