AI Image Scandal Rocks Johor School Pledging Reform
Johor School Promises Reform After AI Image Scandal
A prominent Chinese independent school in Johor, Foon Yew High School, has publicly admitted its slow response to a disturbing incident where a student allegedly used artificial intelligence to create and distribute pornographic images of his female classmates.
The school's chairman, Tong Sing Chuan, acknowledged the institution was sluggish in addressing the matter and expressed the board's sadness over the event. He has since promised significant reforms, stating, “I stress that the board will not accept or tolerate any form of wrongdoing.”
The scandal came to light after a 16-year-old male student from the school was arrested in April. He is accused of using AI technology to generate and sell explicit images of his female schoolmates and alumni. It is believed that 30 to 40 young women were targeted. In the wake of the incident, the school's principal resigned on April 12.
Wedding Canceled Amidst Chinese Online Sex Scandal
In a separate incident reported by China Press, a woman in China called off her wedding after discovering her fiancé was involved in a widespread online sex scandal. The scandal centered around a man nicknamed 'Red Uncle', who allegedly lured numerous heterosexual men into sexual encounters, which he then recorded and distributed online.
Following the video leaks, Chinese netizens began identifying the men involved. One man, frequently seen wearing a leather jacket and dubbed ‘Jacket Man’, was identified through his social media profile, where he had posted pre-wedding photos with his fiancée.
After the photos were shared online, the man's fiancée reportedly canceled their wedding and planned to get tested for sexually transmitted infections. The 38-year-old 'Red Uncle', whose surname is Jiao, was later arrested by Nanjing police for spreading obscene videos. Authorities denied that Jiao had encounters with as many as 1,691 men, as rumored, but did not provide an exact figure.
